Fuel filters assembled in previous years have a solid construction with high compressive strength and high resistance for compression and temperature changes, similar to oil filter cartridges. Metal end caps and inner core are made out of perforated metal which assures construction stability and protects the filtering medium from deformation and damage. An inner filter medium casing, made out of perforated paper, is an often applied additional protection element. It protects the pleat tops from mechanical damage, separates the pleats and makes them more rigid. The high utilization cost of such types of cartridges inspired a trend, seeking to replace traditional constructions with ECO cartridges, which do not contain any metal parts. These cartridges have become standard equipment in many types of modern engines, both in cars, trucks and machines.
